Hissy Fit
Presenting the Famous Alphonse De Flange and his terrifying Giant Python!
This puppetry and slapstick comedic performance gives a young audience a real taste of street corner Vaudeville.
Alphonse is a hectoring bully with two bumbling menials to assist him in his world famous snake act. Both Rennie, the mute musician and Patti, the one who carries everything, are in trembling awe of their boss but desperate to be part of the act on the Grand Stage.
When the snake disappears from the act, all three performers are thrown into confusion.
Exploring tantrums, power struggles and the beauty of a clever and fascinating animal, Hissy Fit is a highly entertaining 30 minutes of fun for children from age three to 12.
Hissy Fit is a flexible piece which can be performed indoors or outdoors in a variety of settings. Hissy Fit premiered at the Arts Centre’s Chookahs! Festival in 2008.
Development of the Hissy Fit performance has been undertaken with the assistamce of children from the Currajong School in East Malvern.
