Shadow Tricks

What can we do with light and cloth and paper?

This workshop explores shadow play, concentrating on how many different ways we can make shadows appear. Using a range of performance techniques, we play with scale and the limitless possibilies of the worlds we can create on screen.

Shadow puppetry is a strong traditional form in many countries and is a tremendously entertaining form of puppetry that is easy to create.  This workshop explores many different ways that we can engage with light and shadow – from cut out shapes in silhouette to full body action and playing with scale.

Shadow Tricks is a workshop that can be tailored for the youngest to the oldest child in this age range. We use overhead projectors and large sheets of paper and cloth to explore landscapes and colour, magical disappearances and funny impossible actions.
